Sometimes, the way we've always cared for our hair isn't necessarily what it needs right now.

Happy Sunday, friend.

In Today's Issue:

→ What's different about wash day if you start wearing your natural hair straight

→ A detangling brush that surprised me (and why I prefer it over the others)

→ Why the same hair frustrations keep showing up and what they might be telling you

What Changes on Wash Day Once You Start Wearing Your Natural Hair Straight

Back view of straight natural hair

If you've been wearing your natural hair curly for years and decide to start wearing it straight more often, you may think the biggest change will be how you style your hair.

But there's something else that changes, too.

Unbrush by FHI Heat

I've tried several detangling brushes, including the EZ Detangling Brush and Tangle Teezer, but the original Unbrush has become my favorite. It glides through my wet and dry hair with little to no breakage. I also tried a less expensive dupe, but the bristles bent, so there's definitely a difference in quality. For me, the original is worth it.

Before You Buy Another Hair Product, Try This

When your natural hair starts feeling dry, breaking more than usual, or refusing to hold a style, don't immediately reach for another product. First, identify the specific concern and consider what's changed in your routine. Sometimes the solution is as simple as removing buildup, adjusting your conditioning routine, or changing how you handle your hair.

Here's another tip: Change one thing at a time and pay attention to the results. If you introduce three new products and change your styling technique all at once, how will you know what really helped?

"Change one thing at a time."

Keep track of what you're using, what you're doing, and how your hair responds. That information will help you make better hair care decisions and avoid unnecessary purchases.

That's exactly why I created Hair S.O.S. Plus, my interactive natural hair troubleshooting toolkit. It includes practical solutions for 13 common hair concerns, targeted product recommendations, preventative care steps, and a progress tracker to help you document what's working. Instead of guessing what to try next, you'll have an organized resource to guide your next steps.

But your identity was established long before your hair entered the picture. You are created in God’s image (see Genesis 1:27). Your value doesn't increase when your hair looks beautiful or...
