There's an easy way to tell whether your fine hair needs moisture or protein.

Happy Sunday. It is the last day of our summer sale, and I want us to focus on something that can keep a person confused for years: Figuring out how to determine if your natural hair needs moisture or protein.

In Today's Issue:

→ Why your hair can feel soft and still be breaking

→ Where to focus when your natural hair journey feels off

→ The top 3 resources to help you transform your entire natural hair regimen

→ A ten second check I do to dry, never wet hair

Moisture or Protein? Your Hair Will Tell You

When we pay attention to our hair, it will tell us exactly what it needs. When it feels overly soft, mushy, will not hold a curl and overly stretches, it typically needs protein. When it feels dry, has a loss of elasticity and breaks, it most certainly needs moisture.

When you don't know or recognize the signs, it's very easy to reach for the wrong product and the condition of your hair is never remedied. What helped me tremendously on wash day was examining my hair before I washed it, instead of running through the same wash day every time and hoping I was using the right products.

I started to use protein when my hair was weak, too stretchy and also breaking. And, I'd use a deep conditioner when my hair felt overly dry. Most weeks, all that's needed is a deep conditioning without protein. The point is to never omit the use of protein.

"Read your hair first. Then decide."

If you need more guidance surrounding the use of protein, moisture and all things in between that are the foundation of reaching your hair goals, I've created friendly instructional guides for them all. Everything is still 50% off but today is the final day.

Check It Dry, Not Wet

Wet hair feels soft no matter what, so it can hide what is really happening with your strands. Dry hair will show you the direction you need to take.

There’s great debate scurrying around the hair community about the use of protein on one’s hair. It’s been termed protein sensitivity.
